Open Access Policy

Nesir: Journal of Literary Studies upholds the principle that the free circulation of knowledge and universal access to knowledge are fundamental human rights. The journal is committed to removing the financial, legal, and technical barriers to the public production of knowledge and aims to ensure that academic research circulates not only among experts but also among all curious minds.

In line with these principles, our journal:

  • Regards open access not as a publishing preference but as an ethical and public responsibility;
  • Aims to socialize academic production, reduce inequalities, and strengthen intellectual exchange;
  • Recognizes access to knowledge as a public right.

BOAI Commitment

Nesir endorses the principles set forth in the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), issued on 14 February 2002.

In this framework, Nesir supports that all peer-reviewed scientific literature should:

  • Be globally accessible via the Internet;
  • Provide free and unrestricted access to readers;
  • Limit copyright exclusively to functions of citation and academic integrity.

Access and Licensing

All content published in the journal:

  • Is offered under full open access;
  • Is freely available to all readers without any fees, subscriptions, or sign-in requirements;
  • Is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Under this license, users may:

  • Read, download, copy, distribute, reuse, adapt, and build upon the articles, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given;
  • Index, analyze, and use the texts as data through search engines and software tools;
  • Share the content freely for any lawful purpose.

The only requirement is correct attribution of the authors and the original publication.

Self-Archiving Rights

Nesir encourages authors to archive and share both preprint and postprint versions of their work. Accordingly:

  • Authors may publish preprint versions (prior to peer review) on personal websites, institutional repositories, or open science platforms;
  • Accepted versions (postprints) may also be shared in personal or institutional repositories after publication in Nesir, provided that proper attribution is given;
  • It is expected that a direct link to the published version and a citation to Nesir: Journal of Literary Studies are included.

This approach aims to strengthen the circulation of knowledge and the culture of open access.

Economic and Ethical Model

To ensure the sustainability of open access:

  • Nesir does not charge any submission, review, or access fees to authors, readers, or institutions;
  • The publishing process is based on voluntary editorial work and scholarly collaboration;
  • The journal is committed to a non-commercial, sharing-oriented publishing model.

The Value of Open Access

Through open access:

  • Scholarly production becomes more visible, accessible, and interactive;
  • Equal opportunities in education and research are supported;
  • Academic knowledge transcends geographic, economic, and institutional boundaries to reach everyone;
  • Authors gain broader impact as their work is read, cited, and discussed by a wider audience.
