Correction, Retraction, and Removal Policy

Nesir: Journal of Literary Studies rigorously applies correction, retraction, and, in exceptional cases, removal procedures to protect the scientific reliability and integrity of published content. These policies are shaped in accordance with the principles recommended by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Corrections

If a published manuscript contains minor but significant formal or content-related errors that affect meaning, a correction notice is issued either upon the author(s)’ request or editorial identification. Corrections are:

  • Published linked to the article’s DOI,
  • Do not alter the original version of the article; only the corrected elements are clearly indicated,
  • Announced transparently, specifying the date of correction, the nature of the error, and the content of the correction.

Retraction

An article is formally retracted by decision of the editorial board if any of the following (or a combination thereof) are proven to invalidate the work:

  • Serious ethical breaches such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or data falsification,
  • Manipulation of authorship,
  • Simultaneous submission or publication in another journal during the review process,
  • Copyright infringements or legal issues.

Retracted articles:

  • Are presented in PDF and HTML versions with a “retracted” label,
  • Include a publicly available notice explaining the reason, date, and responsible party (or parties),
  • Retain their DOI, but access to the text is limited to the retraction notice page.

Removal

Articles are removed from access only in rare circumstances, such as:

  • Legal obligations (court order or declaration of rights infringement),
  • The publication posing a serious risk of harm (e.g., defamation, severe violation of personal rights).

In such cases:

  • A statement explaining why access has been removed is displayed in place of the article,
  • The publication record is retained, and relevant institutions are notified.
