
Kadir Dede's book The Nation of Literature The Literature of the Nation: Nation-Building and the Novel in the Early Republican Period, published in 2021, discusses the role of novels published between 1923 and 1938 in the construction of the Turkish nation. The book addresses theoretical debates on nationalism and nation-building, as well as the relationship between the novel, modernization, and nationalism. This paper aims to introduce and critically evaluate the book. In this context, it discusses the book’s periodization, novel selection, theoretical framework, and structure.
